When it came to following MLA formatting for my papers and citations I used owl.purdue.edu. They provided extensive help in properly using MLA formatting and MLA citations. This also included how to properly credit authors whilst using a quote within a paper, and how to format using the author’s name and the page number the text is from. One important aspect of MLA formatting I learned from owl.purdue.edu is how to properly format quotations that are over a certain amount if lines. For example In many of my papers I had quotations that exceeded four lines, MLA formatting requires quotations past four lines to be gapped and indented into their own “paragraphs”, so to speak. When it came to the citations themselves they can greatly differ. For instance, citing an interview compared to citing an anthology or lyrics to a song greatly differs. When writing my third paper I used quotations from an interview, an anthology and lyrics from a song. Using these different citation formats allowed easier access and understanding for the reader.
