Whenever I used quotations in my text I always introduced them, and often times I would like to tie one individual’s ideas with another persons ideas. While writing my second paper on discovering one’s “true self” apposed to the facade of the “false self” I combined quotations from both Kenji Yoshino and Henry Rollins. In short, the equations both discussed covering one’s true identity. So I explained this by saying, “Combining what both Yoshino and Rollins are saying; we have an illogical guilt for what we really are, and who we really are should be hidden, tied up, and forgotten. Covering our true self is a harsh reality we all have conformed to in some way or another. It seems to be that it is essential to sacrifice our genuine values, identities, and culture, or ‘true selves’ for only a facade of who we really are, which is called our ‘false selves”’. Essentially I combined two thoughts and melded the similarities together. I also used a similar approach in my third paper to further strengthen my thesis by using quotes by Yo-Yo Ma and Zack de la Rocha. “Combining what Ma and Rocha are saying; the current education system only provides a biased and dogmatic perspective. By extension, the incorporation of the arts into the system would allow free-thought and open-mindedness”. Again I used quotations to relate to one another and I synthesized them into material that furthers the points within my thesis.
